Plumber in Cathays for Student Lets & HMOs

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Need a dependable plumber in Cathays? Rimko Plumbing Ltd works for landlords, letting agents and homeowners across Cathays, from the terraces off Crwys Road, Woodville Road and Salisbury Road to the streets near Cathays Cemetery and Cardiff University.

Cathays has more shared houses than almost anywhere in Cardiff. Five or six people using one bathroom puts a lot of strain on showers, toilets and waste pipes, so things wear out faster than in a family home.

Why Landlords Choose Our Plumber in Cathays

In a busy student house, a small problem quickly becomes a big one. A shower tray that flexes will crack its seal, water gets under the tray and a leak appears in the room below. A toilet that runs all day wastes water. We fix the cause properly, not with a quick bead of sealant that fails again next term.

We can contact your tenants to arrange access, and we tell you what we found and what we did. That gives you a record of the repair and peace of mind that the job was done properly.

Summer Upgrades Between Tenancies

The summer break is the best time to refresh a Cathays let. We replace worn shower trays with stronger, low-profile trays, fit new thermostatic shower valves, replace tired radiators and refit whole bathrooms while the house is empty. Book early, because the summer months fill up quickly.

Hard-wearing fittings make sense in shared houses. We will suggest options that are easy to clean and maintain, so you get fewer call-outs during the year.

Plumber in Cathays: FAQs

Do you work with student landlords in Cathays?

Yes. Much of our Cathays work is for landlords and letting agents. We can arrange access with tenants and report back on every job.

Why do shower trays leak so often in shared houses?

Heavy daily use, trays that were not fully supported and failed silicone seals are the usual causes. We replace or re-bed the tray properly so it stays sealed.

Can you refit a bathroom in a Cathays HMO over the summer?

Yes. Summer is the ideal time while the house is empty. Get in touch early so we can plan the work before new tenants move in.

Do you cover the streets near Cardiff University?

Yes. We cover all of Cathays, including the roads near the university, Cathays Cemetery and Crwys Road, plus neighbouring Roath and Heath.
