Plumber in Pontprennau for New-Build Homes

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Rimko Plumbing Ltd is a local plumber in Pontprennau, based just around the corner in north-east Cardiff. Pontprennau is mostly modern housing built from the 1990s onwards, close to Cardiff Gate and junction 30 of the M4.

New-build homes have their own plumbing quirks. Builders often fit basic, budget fittings, and houses can settle in their first few years. The result is a set of problems we see again and again across the estates here.

Common New-Build Problems a Plumber in Pontprennau Fixes

• Leaking shower trays: lightweight trays that were not fully bedded can flex, break the seal and let water into the ceiling below.
• Noisy or slow-filling toilets: cheap fill valves wear out quickly. We replace them with better-quality parts.
• Weak showers: the wrong shower valve for your water system can give a poor flow. We check the pressure and fit a suitable thermostatic valve.
• No outside tap: many new builds are handed over without one. We fit outdoor taps with the correct check valve.

Upgrading a Builder-Grade Bathroom

Once you have settled into your new home, the basic white suite can feel plain. We upgrade new-build bathrooms and en suites with better showers, stylish vanity units, black or brushed brass fittings and designer towel radiators. Because the pipework is modern, these upgrades are often quicker and more affordable than in older houses.

Plumber in Pontprennau: FAQs

Why is my new-build shower tray leaking in Pontprennau?

The most common reasons are a tray that was not fully supported, movement as the house settles and failed silicone. We lift and re-bed or replace the tray so it is solid and fully sealed.

Can you fit an outside tap on a new-build house?

Yes. We fit outdoor taps with a check valve and an isolation valve inside, so you can turn it off in winter.

Is it worth upgrading a builder-grade bathroom?

Many homeowners find it is. Better showers, vanity storage and nicer fittings make a big difference, and modern pipework keeps the work straightforward.
